Karnataka minister claims trust land notifications were given to Vijayapura farmers during the BJP era – Karnataka News

In Karnataka, amid the ongoing controversy over alleged land grabbing by the state Waqf Board in Vijayapura, Congress Minister MB Patil claimed that the notices served were issued during the BJP’s rule from 2019 to 2022.

The Congress Minister shared copies of the Foundation announcements on X, highlighting the BJP’s statement that farmers were targeted under its term.

Patil accused the BJP of taking a “fake pro-Hindutva” stance through misinformation. He criticized the opposition party for exploiting social narratives and divisive policies during its tenure in power, deviating from core development issues.

He then challenged the BJP to explain why farmers were given notices during its rule. Patil also argued that despite the BJP pointing fingers at the Congress, no farmers in Vijayapura have received Wakf-related land claims under the current Congress rule.

“When they were in power, they misled the people on issues such as hijab, halal, Uri Gowda-Nanjegowda, and now they continue the same tactic. “Efforts to deceive the public with fabricated stories will no longer work,” he said.

Additionally, Patil questioned why the BJP had restructured the inquiry committee into the Foundation issue, which was initially set up by party president BY Vijayendra. He said it was after he faced backlash from his own leaders like Basanagouda Patil Yatnal for not adding him to the fact-finding panel.

Patil pointed out that the addition of Yatnal and MP Ramesh Jigajinagi to the committee was a symbolic gesture and pointed to internal struggles within the party.

He urged the BJP to clarify why these notifications were made under its rule and resolve its internal disputes instead of exacerbating social problems in the state.
